iGem Meeting Minutes

The meeting began at 10:00 AM

  • 10:00 Each group presented what they found.

POWERPOINTS WILL BE POSTED HERE

  • 11:00 We discussed the presentations and came up with a few conclusions.
    • We can't use Malaria because it does not exist in water, but rather in the mosquito and human bodies
      • Cholera, Typhoid, and Hepatitis E are water-bourne diseases that actually exist in still water
    • The yeast cell wall will not allow us to detect larger proteins
  • 11:50 Further Questions
    • Is Directed Evolution the right method?
    • Is there a disease that has been studied enough that we will be able to make this sensor?
    • Should we use yeasts without cell walls? or maybe come up with something entirely different?
