We are the first Illinois igem team, and we're very excited about that fact.  Some of us had heard about igem before but weren't sure how to get involved since there wasn't already a team here at Illinois.  One of us however, Aleem, decided to take action and form a team.  He spread the word through flyers, newsletter postings, emails, and word of mouth.  There turned out to be enough excitement on campus to get almost 30 people to brave a torrential downpour and attend our very first meeting.  Due to the various ways people heard about the team we have a diverse mix of backgrounds represented, with many bioengineers, physicists, electrical engineers, chemists, and molecular biologists on the team.  This broad background gives us a the ability to look at problems from many angles and come up with unique solutions.  We have all thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity that igem has given us, and look forward to being a competitive team in the future.

Who are we?
