What distinguishes your group from existing RSOs? Our RSO is the first, to our knowledge, to seek to expand discussion of and interest in the subject of synthetic biology on campus. 2. What would you add to the U of C community? We hope to contribute to the awareness and discussion of synthetic biology throughout the undergraduate community, through collaborative research, speakers, debates, panels, study breaks, and publication materials. 3. What types of events or activities do you plan to hold? Speakers, presentations, round tables, think tanks, study breaks, workshops and training are activities we would like to incorporate into our RSO. 4. How would your group benefit from RSO status? In order to attract many of the speakers we desire, we would benefit from a recognized status, as well as be able to acquire the funding required to hold many of the activities and events. Please return this form to RC 001 along with a copy of your group's bylaws. To gain RSO status your application must be approved. If submitted during the academic term, your application will be considered by the Committee on Recognized Student Organizations (CORSO) within two weeks of submission and you will be contacted by email once your application has been reviewed. CORSO meets during the even weeks of the quarter (e.g. week 2, 4, and so on), and your application must be turned in by noon on the Monday of each even week for consideration. Please be advised of the following stipulations: If you are applying to become a religious RSO, you must first gain approval from Alison Boden of Rockefeller Chapel (alboden@uchicago.edu). If you are applying to become a community service RSO, you must first gain approval from the University Community Service Center before submitting your application. If you have any questions, please contact orcsa-help@listhost.uchicago.edu.
