About Me
My name is Thomas Gorochowski but I prefer to be called Tom or one of the many nicknames I have picked over the years! I am currently a postgraduate student at Bristol University in the Centre for Complexity Sciences and a member of the BCCS-Bristol iGEM 2008 team. My background is in Computer Science, specialising in areas such as parallel computation, visualisation and programming language semantics. Outside of study I love sports, the outdoors, cosy pubs, mountains and water, be it a river, lake or the sea. If you would like to find out more or contact me, details can be found at [http://www.chofski.co.uk/Chofski/about.php www.chofski.co.uk].
Interests
My academic interests in iGEM and more generally include:
- Naturally inspired computing architectures - Neural networks, Genetic algorithms, P-Systems, DNA computing to name a few.
- Complexity of biological processes - Trying to understand the way nature handles complexity in regulation and development.
- Dynamics of complex networks - Taking the view that network structure dynamics are a vital part of complex networks.
- Nanoscale self assembly - How can we work with nature in building nanoscale machines? (A bottom up approach)
