Here in Pavia, a collaboration between bioengineers and biotechnologists gave life to a research consortium, called CIT, dedicated to tissue engineering. We are a small subgroup of this consortium, who were interested in synthetic biology: during this year, thanks to IGEM08 call, we have had the chance to work in this field for the first time and then to introduce this study perspective into our University.
Our team is composed by Lorenzo Pasotti, master student in Bioengineering, and Mattia Quattrocelli, master student in Molecular Biology. We are advised by Daniela Galli, post-doc in Tissue Engineering and instructed by Paolo Magni, professor of Bioinformatics, and Maria Gabriella Cusella, professor of Anatomy.
We are mixing engineering and biology skills in order to build up original devices, learn new abilities and have a lot of fun during IGEM08 Competition!
We are interested in genetic implementation of logic circuits: our goal is to provide a Boolean logic-based processing in biosensors, especially in multi-input ones. This year we are building up genetic networks that mimic a logic circuit function: in particular we are trying to implement Multiplexer and Demultiplexer functions in E. coli. | |
