iGem Meeting Minutes 5/27/08

Meeting began at 2:15.

2:15 Bobak explained what his group did in the lab: File:RFP.pdf
- Procedure overview
- Culturing (took 4 trials)
- Transduction protocol
- Quantification and Measurement
2:25 Kiruthika gave a presentation on what they are going to do tomorrow: File:CaCl2Transformation.pdf
- Materials/procedure
2:35 Luke gave a presentation on Research: File:ProteinBiosensor.pdf
- Biosensor Project
- Research done up to this point
- Research to be done
- All research articles are posted on the wiki with a short summary
3:00 Courtney Evans from the IGB lab showed us the lab safety quizzes that we all need to complete

- Make sure to complete both DRS and IGB quizzes
3:10 Luke finished presentation
- We split up into research groups:

- This is for the ecoli group and whomever else may need it. From my email with the Dr. Golding:
  - In my view, the best two sources for protocols are the following. They both offer not just the protocols,

but also intelligent introductions to the subject matter.

Full text available for UIUC, I believe. A paper version exists as well.

See e.g. Chapters 1,2,3 & 13.

2) "Molecular Cloning: A Laboratory Manual" By Joseph Sambrook et al. 3-volume set. Perhaps also available online (Google books?); used paper copies available online.
