Because we are using a chassis that is virtually making its iGEM debut this year (not only from us here at Imperial!) we had some trouble finding information about culturing and transforming it. Bacillus subtilisBecause we are using a chassis that is virtually making its iGEM debut this year (not only from us here at Imperial!) we had some trouble finding information about culturing and transforming it. Even though B. subtilis is apparently a widely-used model organism, there is surprisingly little information in the literature (and on the web) about protocols, as the picture on the right demonstrates! This was also an advantage, however, as every part we used was a new part to characterise and submit to the registry. Our parts are listed below.
