The table below summarizes the data obtained after simulationing the digestion of the E.Coli K12 MG1655 genome with the complete set of 713 restriction enzymes present in the [http://rebase.neb.com/rebase/rebase.html REBASE database].
For each restriction enzymes we simulated the fragments of genome obtained after digestion. Using the available annotation of the genome (that is, position of the genes on the chromosome), we calculated the number of genes disrupted if each fragment was to be removed from the genome. We calculated statistical measures of the restriction enzyme effects, such as average size of the fragments and its variance, and the average number of (all and only essential) genes and its variance.
