iGem Meeting Minutes 5/27/08

Meeting began at 3:10.

3:10 Aleem contacted the President of iBio. He is willing to help us out, not monetarily, but in other ways.
- We can buy supplies from on campus stores now!

3:15 We went over the list of Issues : File:Questions to address for iGEM project.txt
- Professor Input:
  - modulate the project
  - Directed Evolution seems practical
  - learn basic DNA manipulation techniques
    - Ask Dr. Rao
    - We will not replicate the experiments that were done because it may be a waste of money. Later experiments will be similar but require slightly different materials
- still debating between Cholera and Typhoid
- When talking to other professors, make sure to go with a list of questions and take good notes
- Ask Dr. Zhao about other protein receptors in yeasts
- Lab groups should make sure to post exact protocols on the wiki
3:55 Student Meeting
- discussed how we are going to tackle the rest of the project
- We will have weekly cram sessions starting tomorrow night at 5
  - find exact protocol for binding a protein to a vesicle
  - find out how to store and culture yeast

The meeting ended at 4:45.
