mCherry bacteria are STILL not red.  Looked up on Clontech (website selling mCherry)--found that maybe antibodies are necessary to visualize?

I'm thinking it was a bad assumption to make that mCherry would make bacteria red in visible light just like mRFP-1.

From several books, it has been documented that LacZ takes around 2-5 minutes to be transcribed into beta-galactosidase.  Still need to find time it takes to diffuse from the cell and cleave X-gal.  Perhaps is negligible?  Miller (1972) details an experiment about timing gene expression using beta-gal.
